About the team
Hi! My name is Tanya, and I am the team lead of the Factset team, which develops the infrastructure for delivering, storing, and distributing various financial data from providers to internal backend services.
Our team is responsible for:
- Collecting and aggregating information from company financial reports, interpreting and analyzing it, and calculating derived metrics and analytical indicators.
- Gathering and analyzing key macroeconomic indicators such as GDP, unemployment rates, and other important economic metrics.
- Integrating with various data providers.
- Integrating data with the platform to ensure users have access to up-to-date and reliable financial information. The data we process includes company financial reports, ETF reports, bond documentation, and macroeconomic indicators.
Your mission
- Implement automated testing following company standards, choosing the optimal approach.
- Review current testing processes and tools, proposing optimizations while adhering to company standards.
- Introduce necessary tools and processes that will be rolled out centrally, working closely with the QA Director.
- Take responsibility for the testing process, timelines, and results within the team.
- Establish and improve the process for data quality assurance in collaboration with analysts.
- Functionally manage the current QA team—review their work, support their growth (PDP, feedback sessions).
- Assess the rational use of QA team working time.
- Manage QA workload and task distribution.
- Develop and review test plans for major features.
- Automate tools for assessing and improving data quality.
- Define key product quality metrics and work on their improvement.
- Participate in discussions on new feature implementations to foresee potential challenges in testing and data quality.
- Oversee the release management process for the team.
Required Skills:
- Previous experience as a QA Lead or Senior QA for at least 2 years.
- Deep understanding of backend testing and integrations: experience with REST APIs, databases, asynchronous processes, and distributed systems.
- Hands-on experience in implementing automated testing
- Development and execution of automated tests, particularly regression testing.
- Integration of test automation into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, ArgoCD, etc.).
- Testing process analysis and optimization.
- Conducting reviews of current testing processes and tools.
- Proposing improvements while maintaining company standards.
- Implementing necessary tools and processes in collaboration with the QA Director.
- Functional management of the QA team
- Reviewing the work of QA engineers and fostering their professional growth (PDP, feedback).
- Evaluating the efficiency of QA team workload distribution.
- Managing workload within the QA team.
- Ownership of the testing process, timelines, and results:
- Developing and reviewing test plans for major features.
- Ensuring data quality in collaboration with analysts.
- Establishing and improving data quality assurance processes.
- Strong soft skills: You will be responsible for onboarding new employees, mentoring existing QA engineers, and conducting interviews.
- Ability to manage and develop the QA team.
- Clear communication, ability to negotiate and justify decisions.
- Proactiveness, responsibility, and result-oriented mindset.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams.
- Programming knowledge for automated testing (preferably Python).
Nice to have:
- Experience working with data from external providers (financial data, market data aggregators, etc.).
- Experience with monitoring and logging tools (Grafana, Prometheus, Zabbix).
- Experience scaling testing processes (e.g., setting up test environments, parallel test execution).
- Experience with performance testing (Tank, k6, Locust).
It’ll also be an advantage if you have experience in:
- Finance experience or knowledge of Trading
- Knowledge of TradingView 😁
